This barge is perfect for:  Families, Groups of friends, Good Cycling/Walking, Historic interest, Markets, Charming Villages, Wine. Barge available for charter only – get a group of friends together for an exceptional gourmet/deluxe getaway!

The crew of Prospérité know that barge cruises are best enjoyed slowly, completely, fully as you savor the taste of a crusty baguette whisked fresh from the oven or smell the exquisite bouquet of a glass of vintage burgundy or cognac. Enjoy tasting the velvet texture of fresh Camembert or Brie melting upon the tongue while you luxuriate on a French barge cruise in Burgundy. Spend a week cruising centuries-old canals through the verdant fields and picturesque villages of provincial France.

Prospérité is an ultra-luxurious barge which offers some of the largest rooms and highest level of amenities you will find on any of the barges in France. Dining aboard is unlike any other barge on the French canals. Let our private chef captivate your taste buds with fresh and elegant French cuisine. Wake up to croissants and French baguettes still warm from the oven – accompanied by a buffet of fresh fruit, cereals, yogurts, jams and jellies, and on request, eggs any way you like. Usually served on deck, lunch is an ever-changing array of buffets from salads, quiche, pate, bread, fresh fruit and local cheeses.

While dinner is in an elegant setting feel free to come in informal attire. Sit back, relax and enjoy a gourmet meal, which is full of flavor and light in feeling. Take pleasure in wines, especially chosen for each meal and selected from numerous French vineyards. You’ll get the opportunity to try vintages new to you – as well as enjoy old favorites. All told, onboard alone you will sample 24 wines and 36 cheeses on your week aboard Prospérité.

The four luxurious staterooms provide 270 square-feet of space, stereo systems, an electronically adjustable oversized twin or king bed and private bath with tub, separate shower, and heated towel racks. Individually controlled central heating and air-conditioning. As you can see from our photo gallery, the interior decor is exceptionally tasteful and well appointed throughout the salon and separate dining room.

Time seems to stand still as the barge slowly motors by quaint stone churches and well-kept houses, periodically pausing at moss-covered locks, as it makes its leisurely way from one town to the next. Catch up on your reading on deck, enjoy a delicious, gourmet meal from your private chef’s kitchen and simply relax to the gentle sounds of water lapping against the hull. Enjoy the quiet sensation that comes with unplugging yourself from the 24/7 world on a luxury barge cruise.

The Prospérité barge cruise features daily excursions in our accompanying Mercedes bus into the surrounding countryside. You will explore the local chateaux or sip the fruits of one of the many local vineyards.

Prospérité is available for charter only.

Sunday: Arrival to Plombieres-les-Dijon | Welcome Aboard!

In the afternoon, you will be met by a crew member of the Prosperite at the designated meeting point. From here, relax as you are chauffeured in your immaculate vehicle to the Prosperite, moored in the tiny village of Plombieres-les-Dijon. A traditional champagne welcome and introduction to the crew awaits you, before your first gourmet dinner onboard.

Monday: Plombieres-les-Dijon to Fleury-sur-Ouche | Where Medieval Monks Made Wine

The luxurious journey begins with a morning cruise. Laze on deck in the hot tub, or explore the countryside via bicycle. This afternoon, visit the Chateau du Clos de Vougeot, where Cistercian monks made wine in the 12th century. Explore the preserved presses on which these iconic Burgundian vintages were made. Return to the Prosperite for an evening of drinks and dinner onboard.

Tuesday: Fleury-sur-Ouche to Gissey-sur-Ouche | Destination Dijon

A lazy morning cruise awaits you this morning. In the afternoon, the town of Dijon offers a pleasurable excursion ashore. Mingle with the locals as you browse seasonal produce, boutique cheese, and freshly baked bread at "Les Halles,” the region's food market. Preserved palaces and beautiful churches vie for attention with specialty boutiques, small cafes, and serene gardens. Shop, sip, and stroll your way through this small city brimming with authentic Burgundian life. Return to the Prosperite for aperitifs and appetizers before tonight's delicious dinner.

Wednesday: Gissey-sur-Ouche to La Bussiere-sur-Ouche | A Grape Time Was Had By All

Coffee and croissants begin the day. During this morning's cruise, laze in the hot tub, join your Captain in his wheelhouse, or explore the towpath's flora and fauna with a brisk stroll or exhilarating bicycle ride. After lunch, Southern Burgundy's pampered grapes are on full display as you swirl, sip, and savor locally produced wines in the newly opened tasting room of the Domaine de Cromey. Your Tour Guide returns you to the Prosperite for cocktails and canapes before Chef presents tonight's gourmet dinner.

Thursday: La Bussiere-sur-Ouche to Pont d'Ouche | Quaint Medieval Castle Overlooking the Canal

Revel the ambiance of the tranquil countryside during this morning's cruise. This afternoon, your Tour Guide escorts you to Chateauneuf-en-Auxois, a castle overlooking the Canal. A walking tour through the chateau reveals the architectural details and timeworn relics which speak to the deprivations and decadence so prevalent in France’s history. Return to the barge to freshen up before your dinner ashore at the Abbaye de la Bussiere, an ancient Cistercian abbey now converted to a luxury hotel with a Michelin star rated restaurant.

Friday: Pont d'Ouche to Vandenesse-en-Auxois | The Best of Burgundy in Beaune

Bon matin! Begin the day with a leisurely morning cruise. Stroll or bicycle along the towpath, or join Chef in the demonstration kitchen for an informal cooking lesson. In the afternoon, a drive in your private vehicle culminates in the charming town of Beaune, the region's wine capital. Your Tour Guide will accompany you through the Hospice de Beaune, a prestigiously preserved Medieval hospital built in the 15th century. Return to the barge for tonight's festive Farewell Feast.

Saturday: Return to Paris | A Sad Farewell
